Return to HomeThree swims in a day!
1 dip in the morning before breakfast, another one before lunch (no photos unfortunately)
The first one was at our campsite.
After breakfast we started driving, we were heading to Mission Beach
During our driving we saw a sign for ”The Boulders”. We made a small detour and swam there. Second swim of the day!!
A tribute to the non-existent cassowaries of Queensland
Lunch break out of the back of the van
All restaurants and cafes were closed because of Easter, so we ended up doing wraps at the side of the road
Josephine Falls
When you see this photo you might se a beautiful place to swim!
I see one of the places I felt closest do dying in my life.
So no, the title is not click bait. But then I don’t know how well my feelings represent the actual danger I was exposed to. Just because I thought I was going to die does not mean I risked dying. On the other hand 15 people have died here. And we shouldn’t actually have been there…
”Leave the water area immediately if you se a flashing red warning light”
The blue line represents the intended slide. The red represents my journey.
I went slightly too far before going down. So while I was walking to where I intended to go down I got picked up by the current and had no way to slowing down. X marks the point of no return
I went with full speed towards the rocks on the left, but luckily I was kind of got saved by the waves splashing off the rocks as they forced me back out and not colliding with them. So I was somewhere in that white part of the slide.
We had talked about if there were rocks or not under the water fall, so right before I went in, off from the slide, I remember thinking ”hope there is no rock here and that I manage to hit it with my feet first if there is”.
When I landed there was no rocks, I only got held dow by the current for a little bit. When I got up I was going straight for the rocks with the stream, and managed to grab the big one and pause for a little.
The after math
When I got out of the water I wa full of adrenaline. But the sour one, not the feeling after a free fall where you feel ”oooh! I am alive”. Now it had the sour taste of ”I really could’ve died” or worse…
Remember those thorns I showed yesterday? well I got truck by three of them this time and now they stayed.
I managed to get all of them out!!! Boom that feels good!!
Also I hit my toe somewhere along the way. One day later it’s pretty blue and swollen, it I feel like I got away very cheaply for something very stupid.
It is weird though, how quickly you forget it. I don’t truly feel, just hours after it happens, that I was extremely close to living the rest of my life in a wheelchair maybe having uttered my last words, even though, I can’t say I was sure if it, but I can say I wouldn’t have been surprised, a few hours earlier.
Mission Beach
Welcome to the non-official mini-series of David’s non-scenic reading
The plot of the Cassowary thickens
Every new piece of information you get about this one just makes it seem more unreal.
Leon said it was probably a cleaner who accidentally bumped a car and used this as a cover-up.
Also, if you haven’t done it already, google it . Most of the photos looks AI. I feel like this is just like the drop bear
I’m not scared of spiders generally, but there is something about this one. When you get up close to it you have this visceral feeling that you should really get away from it. The legs are these shine black ending in a sharp point, and I can just imagine what it would feel like if it started climbing over my neck and face
Good night! Sweet dreams!:)
